Uber Eats Drivers Are Contractors, Not Employers Commission Rules

Uber Eats drivers are contractors, not employers Commission rules

Uber Eats drivers are contractors, and not employees, according to a Fair Work Commission ruling.

A full bench made the decision, which represents a blow to unions who believe drivers should be classified as employees.

As a result of the ruling, Uber isn’t required to pay drivers minimum wages, holiday and sick pay and super.

Additionally, the ruling means drivers are not permitted to file unfair dismissal claims.
